FOUR LETTER WORD and what it takes to get a story right.
I met Christa Desir sometime in 2012, and I feel SO incredibly lucky to know her for about a million reasons. I started writing an intro to her publication story of this book, but she says it all much better, so here’s the twitter version of the story in Christa’s words. (I realized later that maybe I should have NOT included all of the twitter likes, and re-posts, etc, but I’m too lazy to edit all these photos)
I will always share stories like this one, because I know SO many writers who have this BIG IDEA and sometimes they give up on it entirely, and sometimes they put it out into the world too early, and some of you are staring at that file on your computer right now and your heart gets a little louder every time your cursor moves toward it, but you don’t yet know how to do the precious story justice.
Do your homework. Get it right. Know you’re not alone in the frustration/struggle/anger/love/obsession of an idea.
You can find Christa on her WEBSITE and you can get your copy of FOUR LETTER WORD – HERE. You want to read a book with an insane amount of emotional intensity? Any of Christa’s will do, but this one is especially spectacular.
Also, if you missed Katy Upperman’s similar story, you can find that one HERE.
And YES, I’ve been gone for ages, but that’s what happens when you’re the chair for a writing conference with over 800 attendees, and end up with weird issues in nearly EVERY portion of the conference. I’ve basically been on damage control since January, so yeah…
